Saxophone Lessons

Ben Bogart has been teaching saxophone lessons since 1995. He studied Classical and Jazz performance and composition at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Jazz and Contemporary Music performance and composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Currently he performs with, and is the musical director of the Ben Bogart Jazz Collective, plays lead tenor sax with the SOS Big band, host the Tango Jam and performs as a freelance artist. Ben’s teaching style is energetic, unique, and geared to get the student playing as quickly as possible. Students are often surprised at how fast they learn to play saxophone. Lessons are available for students of all ages and levels.

Adult Lessons

Every year adults come to me with the desire to learn to play saxophone. Some, played in grade school and want to pick it up again. Others just want to lean to play a music instrument and saxophone has always been calling them. They decide it is time and go for it.

Contrary to popular believe, old dogs can learn new tricks.... and adults can take saxophone lessons and learn to play saxophone very well. The fact that you are reading this shows that you are interested and that is the key. If you want to perform, or just be able to play you can do it.

In adult lessons we get to playing songs as fast as possible, usually withing a couple of months for a total beginner. In the lessons you will learn to play the saxophone, read music, and about music theory. There are not mysteries in music.

Lessons For Kids

Kids need to be motivated and interested. Ben started working with kids in 1995 in the Los Angeles Unified School District. With over 10 years experience he is able to elicit interest in music from kids of all ages. Kids learn to play saxophone while having fun developing their musical skills.

Saxophone lessons can be an excellent supplement to your child's school music program or as a stand alone course of study. Either way your child will excel in music with the motivation as support central to Ben's teaching methods.

Group Lessons

As part of an attempt to help restore music as an interactive social event, Ben Bogart has begun to teach families, friends, and couples to create music together in the family band program. It is a great way to have fun while sharing time together and learning how to work together. Ben Bogart specializes in Saxophone, and as part of group lessons also teaches Guitar, Bass, Piano, clarinet, flute, and trumpet. Participants are encouraged to play a different instrument from the other participants in the class. Lesson prices are charged per hour, not per person. They are the same as private lesson prices listed below.
